Border landscapes in agglomeration area

Brugger + Partner is the lead partner in the model project ‘Border landscapes in agglomeration area’. The aim is to develop municipal border areas in the Glattal into sustainable open spaces that promote biodiversity, contribute to climate adaptation and at the same time offer space for recreation and exercise. Brugger + Partner is shaping and coordinating the participatory, interdisciplinary process together with municipalities, cantonal authorities and other stakeholders. The model project is divided into three phases: interpretation and analysis of the border landscapes, development of solutions and pilot projects (open space agenda), and knowledge transfer as well as anchoring of the results beyond the Glattal. The project is part of the fifth phase of the federal government's model projects for sustainable spatial development (2025–2030) and falls under the thematic focus of ‘Improving quality of life through biodiversity and attractive landscapes’. The Federal Office for the Environment (FOEN) is responsible for this focus area, while the overall programme is managed by the Federal Office for Spatial Development (ARE).
