Coaching for Double Materiality Assessment following ESRS

Stäubli International AG is a Swiss provider of industrial and mechatronics solutions operating globally, with four business units: electrical connectors, fluid connectors, robotics, and textiles. Brugger + Partner supported the Stäubli sustainabiltiy team in conducting a double materiality analysis in accordance with the European Sustainability Reporting Standards (ESRS) at group level, providing intensive coaching and process support throughout.
During this process, the Stäubli team undertook many of the substantive tasks themselves, while Brugger + Partner acted as coaches, methodology experts and moderators in workshops. Brugger + Partner provided training to the Stäubli team in the fundamentals of a double materiality analysis in accordance with the ESRS, as well as in conducting interviews and assessing impacts, risks and opportunities (IROs). They also supported the evaluation of interviews and moderated workshops on impacts, risks and opportunities, including with representatives of the board of directors and management.
By the end of the process, the material topics were determined. The Stäubli team now knows which topics they must report on according to the Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive (CSRD), and has developed a basis for incorporating the results into their strategic work.
