"What does sustainability mean for maxon? What do our customers and other stakeholders expect? How do we create transparency?" These are the questions maxon approached BHP with in 2022. A materiality process provided clarity and the impetus for an in-depth discussion of sustainability within the group, and it served as a key basis for structuring maxon's commitment to sustainability.

The family-owned business was not starting from scratch. The first sustainability report conveys the group's track record so far. BHP helped to design and edit the report, including a calculation of the group's carbon footprint and other environmental and social indicators.

But maxon does not merely want to look back – above all, it wants to look forward: To do so, BHP is accompanying the development of a roadmap with effective measures for the coming years and is advising the group on sustainability issues.
