The Federal Council considers the Second Homes Act to be effective and in line with current needs

At its meeting on 12 May 2021, the Federal Council noted with approval the impact analysis of the Second Homes Act (SHA). According to the Federal Council, no amendments to the SHA are called for. Furthermore, the federal government does not need any additional measures to promote Switzerland as a location for second homes. However, need for action exists with regard to enforcement, the knowledge base, and the essential terms of the accommodation industry. Over the coming four years, this need for action will be addressed with specific measures. Together with the Lucerne University of Applied Sciences and Arts, BHP prepared the impact analysis of the SHA with an operational focus, providing a key basis for the Federal Council's decision.
