Melanie Mettler contributes a large network to BHP thanks to her civic and private engagement, along with wide experience in dealing with a diverse range of stakeholders. She is a generalist with broad interdisciplinary competence and is especially interested in the interfaces between government, the business sector, and civil society.

Following her studies in analytic philosophy and linguistics and her doctorate in modern English literature, Melanie Mettler served for many years at the World Trade Institute as a lecturer in the field of world trade regulation, working with researchers, students, and practitioners from around the world. As a consultant, she has been working on issues of Sustainability, particularly in the area of sustainable public procurement, governance and public-private-cooperation as well as social innovation before acting as Managing Director of the national Network for Occupational Integration under the patronage of the Swiss Employer’s Association.

With her long experience in politics and the organisation of society, she also builds innovative initiatives and projects in her free time, including a solar energy crowdfunding project Sunraising and the Social Innovation Bern Accelerator. She has been active in politics for years. In 2019 she was elected to the National Council, the national parliament in Switzerland.
