A team of 3 sustainability experts at BHP - Brugger & Partners Ltd., supported by external analysts, analyses all publicly available information related to the companies' CSR management. The companies receive an assessment of the quality of their reporting as well as their preparedness to manage their three most material topics (which have been selected by the portfolio managers based on the company's materiality matrix, a media analysis and sector specific frameworks). The findings of the analysis are discussed with company representatives that are in charge of investor relations and sustainability. During these confidential dialogues, the b|engaged expert, together with the fund manager, discusses the strengths and weaknesses of the company's non-financial reporting, formulates suggestions for improvement, and last but not least gets additional insights into the company's management of relevant topics, which in turn can be used for further investment decisions.
