For many years, BHP has accompanied Swiss Re and subsequently Swiss Re Foundation in the impact-oriented advancement of its corporate citizenship programme. This coaching includes development of the Swiss Re Foundation's strategy as well as specific projects such as the nomination of candidates for the "Swiss Re Charity of the Year". BHP was responsible for coordinating the conception, planning, and launch of the Swiss ReSource Award for Sustainable Watershed Management, which amounts to USD 150,000 each year, and has run its secretariat since 2002.
BHP was in particular responsible for the following tasks: developing the criteria for the evaluation and selection of the projects for the award; administration of the award from announcement to conferral of the award, including coordination of the award jury; and maintaining contacts with high-profile persons supporting the award (patrons). Since the launch of the internationally recognised initiative, BHP has pre-evaluated more than 1,500 projects based on predefined criteria and has actively supported implementation of all the winning projects.
